Sandra Martell, DNP, MS
 
     Dr. Sandra Martell is the Public Health Administrator for the Winnebago County Health Department, which serves a unique urban, suburban, and rural population of over 250,000 in Winnebago County, Illinois. She serves as Chief Health Strategist for the County and coordinates cross agency collaboration on issues of public health concern including the response to opioids and the growing movement toward becoming a trauma informed community.
     She received her BS in Nursing from Loyola University of Chicago and her Master’s and Doctoral Degrees from the UIC with a concentrated focus on public health. Dr. Martell received the March of Dimes Perinatal Nurse Recognition Award and she was acknowledged as an emerging public health leader through a fellowship from the National Association of City and County Health Officials/Robert Woods Johnson and De Beaumont Foundations. She now has over 30 years of experience working in public health.
     Dr. Martell's presentation will be titled "Key Updates on Significant Public Health Issues: Opioids, Trauma, and Mental Health".  This will be a most informative program on some of today's health problems.  It will an excellent opportunity to bring a guest or prospective member.  Jim Powers will introduce our presenter and act as Rotary host.
