Rock Valley College Update
 
     Dr. Howard J. Spearman was named Rock Valley College’s eighth president in July 2020 and began his tenure as RVC president on September 1, 2020.  His vision for the immediate future of RVC is based on four pillars:  access, exceptional educational opportunities, exceptional training opportunities, and diversity, equity and inclusion.
     Prior to being named president at RVC, he served as the Vice President of Student Affairs and Chief Student Services Officer for Madison College. He also previously served in several leadership roles at RVC from 2011-2019.
     Dr. Spearman has over two decades of higher education experience and a proven track-record of leading and implementing successful strategic enrollment, innovative programming, and diversity and inclusion initiatives. Focusing on higher education as a personal and professional growth strategy, Dr. Spearman integrates his approach into his professional and community relationships throughout the Midwest region.
     Dr. Spearman graduated from Beloit Memorial High School in Beloit, Wisconsin.  He earned both his Bachelor of Science Degree in Human Services and Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in College Counseling and Student Affairs from the University of Wisconsin Oshkosh.  He earned his Ph.D. in Leadership for the Advancement of Learning and Service from Cardinal Stritch University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and is honored to be recognized as a UW Oshkosh Outstanding Young Alumni recipient.
     And last but not least, Dr. Spearman is happily married to Michelle and together, the have three growing boys.
