Janine Idstein is the Director of Community Outreach for Olson Funeral and Cremation Services.  To learn more about her, you will have to attend the 6/8/23 meeting. 

 

     Ground was recently broken for the Perks Indoor Equine Center at Lockwood Park.  The Park District is embarking on a multi-million dollar fundraising campaign to build the Indoor Equine Center and Lori Berkes-Nelson and Jennifer Winberg will tell us how the new center will use horses to bring hope and healing to help in mental health treatment.

     Lori Berkes-Nelson, M.S. Ed, CFRE,is the Executive Director of the Rockford Park District Foundation. She has been securing philanthropic support and enhancing awareness of the Rockford Park District's benefits to the community since 2014.

     Lori has devoted her professional life to non-profit viability through successful leadership, board development, strategic planning, fundraising and marketing. She has over 30 years of non-profit management experience including leadership at Rosecrance, Golden Apple Foundation and Econ Illinois.

     Lori holds a Master of Science in Counseling from Northern Illinois University and has earned the credential of Certified Fundraising Executive (CFRE).

     Jennifer Winberg is the Manager of Lockwood Park and the new Perks Indoor Equine Center.

     She is an EAGALA Certified Equine Specialist and Certified Path Riding Instructor with more than 2100 hours of training in safety and therapy in the use of horses to assist in mental health treatment, human development, and assistance with physical wellbeing goals. She is passionate about helping horses and humans who have been hurt.

     Jennifer has 41 years’ experience with personal horse ownership, riding, instructing, and equine program management.

     However, her greatest accomplishments to date are raising a confident daughter and being a part of making the new Equine Center a reality.

     This will be an interesting and informative program about the newest addition to Lockwood Park.  Having seen the program, I would highly recommend that you bring a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via Zoom.  Monica Glenny will introduce our presenters and act as Rotary Host.

 

     At our May 25th meeting, President Eric introduced Angela Trevino as the newest member of Rockford Rotary.  Angela is the Health Information Systems Manage for UW Health System and was sponsored by Linda Niemiec.

     We would encourage each of our members to make an effort to meet Angela and welcome her to Rockford Rotary.
