Earth Day Program

We will be having two speakers for our Earth Day program.
Josh Franks is our local District Conservationist with USDA – NRCS (Natural Resources Conservation Service) here in Rockford and oversees Boone, Stephenson, and Winnebago Counties. He has 18.5 years of experience with NRCS and is a Western IL Ag science grad.
Josh resides in Byron with his wife and 3 children. In his free time, he likes to spend time on his 18.5 acres of mixed crop/timber ground he and his wife bought in 2019 doing habitat management, hunting, and camping. He also is an avid gardener and runner in addition to all the kid's activities!
Dennis Anthony grew up in the driftless area of southwest Wisconsin, where he attended the University of Wisconsin – Platteville, and obtained a bachelor's degree in Soil & Crop Science.
He has been with the Winnebago County Soil & Water Conservation District for about 29 years now, where he serves as the Executive Director and Soil Scientist and provides multiple duties for the district.
In his free time, he enjoys watching sorts and helping out on the family farm.
Josh and Dennis will discuss their various duties and talk to us about the importance of conservation with regards to saving our planet from ourselves.
This will be an interesting and informative program and one you will want to bring a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via zoom.
Monica Glenny will introduce our presenters and act as Rotary Host.

On Friday some of the Rockford Rotary club traveled to Glen Ellen to hear Rotary International President Gordon McInally, what an inspiration. We were able to present him with our clubs flag and a HOPE sculpture, representing his theme of Create Hope in the world.

We have more than doubled the District Governor’s goal for our club!!!  Let’s keep it going!!! We have collected $628.00 so far which equals 7536 pounds. We have 2 more weeks till the drive concludes and then we will present a check to the Northern Illinois Food Bank.

At the current time we are at less than 50% of our clubs goal of $15,000 .00  donations to the Rotary International Foundation. If you have any questions about how to donate please contact Bob Canfield.
