February 2nd Program

In order to meet the needs of our ever-changing community, Serenity Hospice & Home is committed to providing the best service possible.  While we are able to provide supportive care to most people in their residence, not all are able to remain at home for this final journey.  Therefore, Serenity Home was established and accepted its first patient in April 2009.
Serenity Home offers the patient and family a home-like environment, while providing the full complement of Hospice’s comfort-oriented care and services, including expert pain and symptom management, 24-hour nursing care, assistance with tasks of daily living, friendly visits from volunteers, spiritual, and psychosocial counseling for patients and their loved ones, and bereavement care and support for surviving family members.
Serenity Home was designed to be family-friendly with special spaces designed for the family to remain close to their loved one during this final journey.  Each patient room includes a sitting/sleeping area that allows family to remain close to their loved one.  Additional areas were designed to include extended family, including a family kitchen and dining area, chapel, children’s playroom, and large family room for gatherings and celebrations.
Within the Serenity Home, care is provided by professional staff to meet the needs and desires of the patients and their families with the goal of achieving comfort, peace, and dignity.
Nancy Tracy, RN, CHPN, has pursued nursing for the last 41 years.  She has had the privilege of being one of nine nurses facilitating the Oncology Department at Condell Hospital in Lake County.  After eight years, I opened the hospice program at Condell.
Working at two additional hospices, she gained additional knowledge of end-of-life care.  This has been her passion for the last 32 years.
Ten years ago, Serenity Hospice and Home hired me as their first nurse liaison.  With this position, she is able to share the message of hospice, a message of peace and dignity for those at the last stage of life.  It is her hope to continue the work she has been so blessed to do.
Nancy will talk about Serenity Hospice and her vast experience with hospice.
This will be an interesting and informative program and one that you can invite a guest or prospective member to join us in person at Memorial Hall or via zoom.
Becky Rundquist will introduce our presenter and act as Rotary host.

February 9th Social Project

Our February 9th meeting will be a service project.  We are going to sing and maybe decorate Valentine cards for all of the residents at River Bluff.
This should be a lot of fun since we will be able to get to know other Rotarians at your table.
